Update

Hi Everyone!

Just wanted to update you on where I was and what I am doing. I have been very busy DIYing to convert the cottage into a viable studio space. This so far has included visiting a hardware store, sanding-my worst, varnishing and drilling-true story. With the help of my mom and her talented sewing skills we have nearly completed our "blinds" of block-out as (hopefully) a fail-proof solution to keeping out unwanted light. Photos to follow.

I have been attending a very exciting advanced Photoshop course, where I can now airbrush my hypothetical and future brides and select subjects amazingly, speedily and with very cool tools. Who knew! My shift from darkroom to Photoshop was a reluctant one, but very exciting none-the-less and am now feeling fluent in the digital world and ready to take on any opportunity that passes my way :)

Another one of my challenges has been to officially decide and choose a name for my company. After much deliberation and discussions with friends I decided I was going to go with my original gut feeling and unanimous decision of "Focus Photography", only to find that the decision process was not my only hurdle. I also had to deal with the Companies and Intellectual Property Comission and their sticky rules. They have unfortunately rejected my proposal of "Focus Photography", so I'm back to square one. Any ideas?

On a far more exciting and less frustrating note: I have my first three students for my Beyond Basics course starting 8 March! That means there are two more spaces to fill *ahem* and I have a special on at the moment for those of you interested: if you want to do my course and you bring along people you get a 10% discount for every person you bring! So buck up, and bring/send me some work :)

Happy weekend everybody!
